The idea is this: people deserve to understand their own health, not just receive instructions about it.
We're Giomarell and Chelsea: a physician and a chemist, husband and wife, the two halves of MediChem. Before any of this had a name, we taught free community health classes together. Giomarell explained what the doctor sees. Chelsea explained what the molecules are doing. And the same thing happened every time: when people finally understand the why, the what gets so much easier.
MediChem is that moment, turned into a practice. Coaching first, and starting fall 2026, a full primary care clinic in Aguada, Puerto Rico, where we live, raise our kids, and intend to stay.

MD, MPH · NBHWC board-certified health coach · Certified personal trainer
Giomarell is a licensed physician from Puerto Rico with a Master of Public Health in Health Education and Wellness Coaching from Loma Linda University. Which is a long way of saying: he never accepted that a doctor's job ends when the visit does.
He practices the kind of medicine that asks about your sleep, your stress, and what's actually in your kitchen, because the prescription pad was never going to fix those. Patients tend to notice two things: he listens longer than they expect, and he explains things until they actually make sense. He conducts visits and coaching in Spanish or English.
In fall 2026 he opens the MediChem Clinic in Aguada, bringing primary care back to the community he calls home.

PhD, Chemical Biology · NASM Certified Nutrition Coach
Chelsea earned her PhD in Chemical Biology at the University of Illinois and spent years as a researcher and chemistry professor before trading the lecture hall for something more personal. As MediChem's co-founder and certified nutrition coach, she helps clients close the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it.
Her favorite sentence is "everything is made of chemicals!", usually deployed while explaining that the scary-sounding ingredient is fine and the simple habit is the powerful one. She brings the molecular why to every coaching plan: not just eat more plants, but what those plants are doing in your cells and why it's worth the trouble on a busy Tuesday.
Originally from California, she's now firmly rooted in Aguada with Giomarell, two toddlers, a dog, two cats, a bunny, a flock of chickens, and a strong opinion about beans.
Whether you meet us in the clinic or online from anywhere, you get both halves: the medicine and the why.
